Best of the Bunch: April

Well hello again friends,
So a lot has happened since I last talked you, lets catch up:
1. Im now officially an adult! I turned 18 on the 15th of April and needless to say that was really the highlight of my month.
2. I had two leaving cert oral exams in Irish and french which basically meant I was trying to become a fluent speaker in both of those languages for a 10 mintute speaking exam (it was very stressful to say the least but i survived unscaved).
3. I just want to thank you guys for all of the positive feedback on my last post on positivity (check it out here), It was a little weird opening up like that to the internet but I loved that style of writing and I can feel more lifestyle posts coming in the future...

Now that were caught up, lets get to business. April was a month of great discovery in the world of beauty I got the chance to try a lot of new products, some of them lovely birthday presents and some of them just impulse buys from boots (dont judge me...we all do it). Heres the best of the bunch from the month of april!

My first favourite is one close to my heart, any make up lover knows the feeling of excitement when you recieve a bag from MAC, only good things can come out of it! And needless to say, great things did come of that bag. My brother kindly got me the MAC lipstick in the shade "Velvet Teddy" for my birthday. This nude MAC lipstick is a bestseller since Kylie Jenner apparently uses it, and we all know the fascination with Kylie Jenners volumptuous lips. I was highly sceptical of all of the hype but honestly I was pleasantly surprised. The colour is a perfect your lips but better colour (cliche I know but that is the best way to describe it). The formula is creamy and easily applied but sightly drying, this is expected with a matte lipstick. Overall it is the perfect lipstick to start off my Mac collection and I can tell this is the start of a dangerous journey for my wallet!

Onto the skin favorites, with all of the great times in April there has also been some severe stress which really took its toll on my skin! The new Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude foundation has been an absolute lifesaver in making my face look half decent this month. It is very long lasting but I would say 25 hours is a bit of an exaggeration. It has a satin finish and I can go a good few hours wihtout powdering my combination skin which is a big bonus. This is around €7 from boots so I would highly recommend trying it out for yourself.

Next up we have a blogger favourite the Boots botanics radiance balm from their all bright range. I picked this up on an impulsive boots trip on offer for 3.99 and I wasnt expecting great things from that price point, but wow was I wrong. This balm acts like an illuminator under makeup and even without makeup to give your face a youthful glow no matter how many hours of sleep youve had! I have really fallen in love with this product and it is a perfect dupe for the MAC strobe cream for about a quarter of the price, go get yourself to Boots ASAP.

keeping with the glowy product theme, I picked up the Maybelline colour tattoo in the shade "Eternal Gold" on that same impulsive boots trip. This is a great base for underneath a golden smoky eye especially on the inner corners of the eyes to attract light to the eye and make you look more awake. It is long lasting but I would still apply an eyelid primer if you have oily eyelids like me.

The next beauty favourite is not one of the makeup variety, but a perfume. I know I never usually talk about perfumes but the My NY perfume from DKNY was another very generous birthday gift from my parents and wow I am short of drowning myself in the scent everyday I love it so much! The scent has the usual fruity floral scents I go for in perfumes but it has a slightly more sophisticated undertone which is appropriate given im an adult now (at least if your not mature you can smell like you are).

Last but not least, as the sun has emerged a few times in the month of april I have had to invest in a new pair of sunglasses. For the little amount of sun we get in Ireland I wasnt willing to invest in a designer pair, so I headed to Penneys and found these matte rimmed, slightly cat-eye frames that only set me back €2!

Hope you enjoyed seeing the best of the bunch for the month of April,
What were your favourites from the month of april?

Love Lisa xo
